This switch has full Power-over-Ethernet capability on all eight twisted pair connections. A PoE controller according to IEEE 802.3af is already integrated. The entire device is supplied directly with 48 V DC via an external power pack. In an extended version, this switch is also designed with a third gigabit fiber optic connection (1000Base-X). The ring topology (rapid redundancy) is implemented using a mechanism patented by MICROSENS, which reconfigures the Ethernet network in a matter of milliseconds in the event of an error.
